REVIEWS FROM AUSTIN'S READERS

From: Carolyn Townshend 17th March 2010

I devoured this book with great relish! It had me smiling, laughing, catching my breath but most of all it had me in awe of nature and the amazing man who lives his life in the heart of it all. This educational, exciting, scary and sometimes funny, recount of Austin's personal journey through life, together with fantastic photographs, gives us some insight into his world as a herpetologist and wildlife photographer, a world most of us can only dream about. Austin's love for snakes and the conservation of all wildlife are clearly shown in the pages of this amazing book and it will remain a most precious book on my bookshelf. Make sure it finds it's way onto yours!

'The Last Snake Man' is a most impressive book. A must-read for all fans of wildlife. And, yes, the photos are amazing. However, 'The Last Snake Man' is about so much more than 'just' wildlife: with his humorous style of writing, Austin Stevens takes his readers on an exciting journey and shares the story of his life with them. A life filled to the brim with adventures and miracles, and with many a close call. It is the story of a man courageous enough, and passionate enough, to follow his heart's desire - throughout his entire life and in defiance of all odds. I can only highly recommend 'The Last Snake Man' to everyone looking for a fascinating, yet profound, reading adventure.

I just got a copy of The Last Snake Man and read it through.  Great job.  Nice writing.  Good photos.  I did not know it had been released in 2007 or I would have gotten a copy earlier.

I was particularly impressed with the way you told some great stories of your life and experiences with animals.  It was not a chest-thumping, self-serving autobiography, but written with great humility that I really enjoyed.  It came out that you are a fine writer and photographer, something that you have been pursuing all your life, it sounded like.  Very impressive.

This book is my favorite book ever. It is very insightful look into to man, Austin Stevens from beginning to present and how his love for reptiles and all wildlife began. A truly wonderful story of a passionate, courageous man, the wildlife he loves so much, wildlife conservation and the most vivid, beautiful photography I've ever seen. I love and treasure this book and recommend it to everyone. You can learn alot from Austin Stevens and become hooked on the passion he has for teaching us about wildlife. His pictures certainly give each wildlife their own personality and story. You will be hooked on this book!
